At the Chiropractic Neurology Center, we treat the whole body, not just symptoms. Through a comprehensive diagnostic program, we determine not only the nature of the problem, but the underlying neurological and neuromuscular causes of the problem. Many times, the two may seem unrelated to the layman.
How Functional Neurology Works: A Revolutionary Approach to Healing
The premise we base our diagnoses and treatment on is called Functional Neurology. By isolating functionally which areas of a patient’s nervous system are involved with the problems they are having, we can select the best treatment to treat and reduce the problem, not just the symptoms. The focus is on the global function of the nervous system as the ultimate goal of our treatment.
Functional Neurology focuses on treating the brain with “afferent (sensory) stimulation” that conveys information to targeted areas. For example, to treat a lesion in the cerebellum, we would perform afferent stimulation targeted to that area of the brain by spinning the patient to the left while sitting in a chair.
After a diagnosis has been made, we provide a variety of treatments, all without drugs or medications, to address and correct the actual causes of the problem. In other words, instead of giving you an aspirin for a headache, we find the cause of the headache and develop a treatment to correct it.
Chiropractic Neurology has also been effective in the treatment of childhood behavioral and learning disorders, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Our Approach to Health: How It Works
The treatments at the Chiropractic Neurology Center are different and unique from any other practice. As chiropractors, we understand the connections between the human body and the brain and believe that a truly holistic approach focuses on the connection between motor sensory and emotional cognitive functions.
- For example, in cases of musculoskeletal pain there are also subsequent changes in cognitive and emotional function. The approach of the Chiropractic Neurology Center is to find the area of commonality between these two systems.
- Musculoskeletal pain is often central in nature. A patient’s condition may be related to functional imbalances in neurologic activity between muscle cells and the interactive control areas of the central nervous system.
- Nerve cells (neurons) often behave like muscle cells — if they are under-stimulated they become weaker; when actively stimulated, they become stronger and more responsive. Knowing this, our doctors develop unique treatment plans to stimulate and strengthen the under-active areas of neurologic performance.
This unilateral approach is called a hemispheric approach: it balances neurologic function AND globally affects the entire nervous system — allowing maximum human potential and a return to a sense of healthy well-being.
