Adult Conditions We Treat
Neuromuscular Disorders
- Bursitis - inflammation of a bursa, a tiny fluid-filled sac that reduces friction between tissues of the body. The major bursae are located
near the large joints, such as the shoulders, elbows, hips, and
knees
- Carpal Tunnel
- nerve damage) caused by compression and irritation of the
median nerve in the wrist due to trauma from repetitive work such as that of supermarket checkers, assembly line workers, typists
or word processors, writers, etc.
- Degenerative Joint
Disease/Osteoarthritis - a type of arthritis caused by inflammation, breakdown, and eventual loss of cartilage in the joints
- Fibromyalgia - characterized by chronic pain, stiffness, and tenderness of muscles, tendons, and joints without detectable inflammation.
Does not cause body damage or deformity, but can cause significant pain and fatigue
that can
interfere with the ability to carry on daily activities
- Osteoporosis - thinning of the bones with reduction in bone mass
and density due to loss of calcium and bone protein
- Sciatica - pain that radiates from the lower back into the buttocks and down the back of one or both legs. It usually begins as an acute pain in the lower back, then radiates down the back of either or both legs
- Scoliosis - a lateral curvature of the spine that affects boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18, although it is more common with girls
- Torticollis - a form of dystonia (prolonged muscle contractions) in which the neck muscles contract involuntarily causing the head to twist and turn to one side, and/or be pulled forward or backward
- Whiplash - an injury to the soft tissues of the neck that occurs from a sudden jerking or "whipping" of the head that strains the muscles and the ligaments of the neck beyond their normal range of motion
Neurological Conditions
- Cluster Headache
- commonly affect one side of the head (unilateral) and may be
associated with tearing of the eyes and nasal congestion. They
occurs in clusters, happening repeatedly every day at the same
time for several weeks and then remitting
- Migraine Headaches
- periodic attacks on one or both sides of the head that may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to light (photophobia), increased sensitivity to sound (phonophobia), dizziness, blurred vision, cognitive disturbances, and other symptoms
- Tension Headaches - a headache caused by contracting of the muscles in the back of the neck, on the scalp, and sometimes in the jaw, usually related to stress
- Vertigo / Dizziness - a feeling that you are dizzily turning around or that things are dizzily turning about you. Vertigo is usually due to a problem with the inner ear,
but can also be caused by vision problems

Learning Disorders

Auditory Processing Delay - a disorder
in the way auditory information is processed in the brain.
It is not a sensory (inner ear) hearing impairment;
individuals with APD usually have normal peripheral hearing
ability.

Dyscalculia - a specific learning disability due to a
defect in the brain's processing of graphic symbols.
Dyscalculia is a learning disability that alters the way the
brain processes numbers and mathematic skills.

Dyslexia - a specific reading disability due to a
defect in the brain's processing of graphic symbols.
Dyslexia is a learning disability that alters the way the
brain processes written material.
Behavioral Disorders
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) /
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) - refers to a pattern of ongoing, chronic
behavior disorders that have three core symptoms: hyperactivity,
impulsivity, and inattention
- Autism / Asperger's Syndrome - characterized by deficits in
social interaction and communication, and unusual and repetitive
behavior
- Asperger's Syndrome - similar to autism, however, children with Asperger's have average or above average intelligence, and develop normally in the areas of language and cognition
- Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD) - a group of conditions that involve delays in the development of many basic skills, most notably the ability to socialize with others, to communicate and to use imagination
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive actions, such as cleaning, checking, counting,
touching or hoarding. OCD is a potentially disabling condition that can persist throughout a person's life
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) - as many as one-third to one-half of all children with ADHD have oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). These children are often disobedient and have outbursts of temper.
- Tourette's Syndrome - a tic disorder characterized by the
presence of chronic vocal and motor tics, and is somewhat more common in people with ADHD, OCD, or an autistic spectrum disorder than in the general population
